Glass with Nanokote

Glass today is such a versatile surface that it can be used for virtually any function. It can be molded, tinted, toughened, frosted, and used as floors, roofs, glass walls, mirrors, doors, kitchen splash backs and much more. Our glass protection products can be applied to just about all types of glass with the most value being derived from application on shower screens, glass pool fencing, balustrades, splash backs, frameless glass and architectural glass, especially when exposed to sea spray.

Nanokote’s products and application systems for glass create Easy To Clean and Anti Fingerprint properties that enable manufacturers and processors to value add and enhance their products. The properties create an opportunity to command premium prices and a competitive advantage in the market place.

Glass Coating

Easy To Clean:

Over time lime deposit can build up on shower screens. Glass corrosion also results in permanent damage to the molecular structure of the glass. It looks like dirt but once it forms it cannot be removed, no matter how much the surface is cleaned. Nanokote stops the corrosion process by repelling everything, including water, dirt, oil, soap and shampoo residue. A shower screen will stay clear and bright requiring up to 90% less cleaning and will never need to be replaced.

Nanokote is highly abrasion resistant, 100% UV stable and highly chemical resistant. It is also incredibly durable and is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. It protects external windows, commercial glass facades, roofs, glass pool surrounds or balconies.

Anti Fingerprint:

Frosted glass can be produced from material blasting and acid etching. Both of these frosted finishes can suffer from unsightly and difficult to remove fingerprints. This probelm can be a thing of the past. Nanokote Anti Fingerprint coating will prevent fingerprints. It will also provide an Easy-To- Clean surface that prevents lime deposits in showers protecting long-term against glass corrosion.

A range of Decorative Colours using environmentally safe pigments that give exciting new looks and finishes for architectural interiors are also available.

Nanokote has many successful references of OEM’s value adding their products utilizing Nanokote technology in this sector. Through value adding, our partners clearly differentiate their products, are able to command premium prices and position their brand as market leaders.

Industrial Integration:

Nanokote Pty Ltd has developed a number of processes to assist our industrial customers in reducing and in some cases eliminating the labour component of coating glass. We have engineered solutions that are ideal for implementation in glass plants that process anywhere from 100 to 4,000 sqm /day of glass. In the case of smaller processors we recommend manual or in some cases semi-automatic applications while for our medium to large customers we have designed low cost fully automated spray equipment. This equipment is modular and can be fitted to most all glass processing facilities.

Industrial Application using Automated Equipment of Nanokote’s Protective Coating for Glass (Easy Clean Coating) vs. Competitors

  Nanokote Typical Competitor
Initial contact Angle (DIN EN 828)
  • 115 Degrees
  • Maximum 90 degrees
ASTM Scrub Resistance (ASTM D2486)
- Direct measure of durability
  • Independent tests (NATA approved laboratory) show less than 10 % change in contact angle after 10,000 double abrasion cycles.  Excellent durability and performance.
  • 10 year performance warranty when professionally applied.
  • Independent tests show the nearest competitor fails this test (less than 70 degree contact angle) after 1500 cycles.
Coefficient of Friction (Slippery Feel)
  • No change (important Occupational Heath and Safety Issue).
  • Results in a slippery surface.  OH&S issue for glass companies.
“slippery surface restricts applications of coated glass as fittings cannot hold glass”
Process Automation
  • Nanokote Pty Ltd Intellectual Property.
  • Special coating material for spray application
  • Excellent efficiency.Spray heads automatically adjust for the size of the glass to always optimise product usage.
  • Low cost.
  • Low labour requirement.
  • Easy, fast installation.
  • Quick turnaround from order to full commissioning
  • Fast production speeds.
  • Full closed loop control and full alarm setup.
  • Telemetry for constant monitoring
  • Equipment is designed and manufactured in Australia.
  • Designed as a modular fit to existing glass processing equipment or can be stand alone.
  • Process engineering support and worldwide service support
  • Typically rely on expensive capital equipment or require a high level of labour.  In both cases this results in a high cost process.
