Over time, a lime deposit can build up on shower screens. There's also a process known as glass corrosion that results in permanent damage to the molecular structure of the glass. It looks like dirt but once it forms it can't be removed, no matter how hard you scrub. Nanokote stops the corrosion process by repelling everything, including water. Your shower screen will stay clear and bright, and never need to be replaced.
Nanokote isn't just for shower screens, windows and mirrors. A single application of Nanokote also protects other surfaces like ceramic wall and floor tiles, basins, baths, toilets and kitchen splash backs. The science is complex, but the application is easy. You just clean the surface using Nanokote pre-cleaner, then spray Nanokote on and wipe it carefully over the area to be treated. Leave it on for 5 minutes to make sure it gets into every microscopic crevice on the surface, then wipe IT off and forget about it for the next 10 years or so.
Applied on new glass Nanokote will last up to 10 years; from 3 to 5 years on existing glass.

Frameless glass shower screens and glass splashbacks have increased in popularity enormously in the last few years. These products look fantastic when they are clean, but ordinary when they are not!
You may have noticed that the appearance of glass deteriorates over time, this is most obvious on shower screens. This occurs due to a process known as glass corrosion.
Contaminants present in water (eg. lime from soaps and shampoos in the case of shower screens and atmospheric pollution in the case of external glass) attack the surface of unprotected glass. The result is a permanent degradation in the quality of the glass. This often results in reduced visibility and an unsightly haze to the glass.
The only way of keeping glass clean is to clean it regularly (daily) or by using highly aggressive cleaning agents. And, even then, over time, glass will deteriorate in appearance.
Application of Nanokote by firstly cleaning the surface to remove the microscopic contaminants and then application of the coating produces an incredibly thin, durable "non-stick" surface similar to that observed in "non-stick" fry pans. The coating prevents the dirt and contaminants from sticking to the glass or ceramic surface. Thereby dramatically decreasing the need to clean. Nanokote protects the glass and decreases the need to clean! Our customers give us feedback that their cleaning times have been reduced by a factor of 10! That is 90% less cleaning. In most cases when cleaning is required all that is needed is a mild cleaner with a microfiber cloth.

This DIY kit is suitable to coat one entire shower enclosure (2 walls of glass and 2 walls of ceramic tile). Depending on the age of the surface the DIY kit may also allow for the coating of second shower. The newer the glass the lower the dose of coating required. Please use the presence of the haze when coating as an indicator that enough of the coating has been applied. This can vary from as little as 5 mL /sqm up to 15 mL /sqm. Based on this we suggest aiming for between 10 and 15 mL /sqm.
